Fermented Lemon/LimeAde

I was making myself a cup of Hibiscus tea today and while I was waiting for it to brew I noticed my big gallon jar of fermented drink in the frig and realized with all the flood stuff I had forgotten all about it. I thought, well, I'm not sure what's happening with it but I should probably get it out of the frig.

I opened the jar and dared a smell. It smelled really...I don't know...fresh and good. And it was certainly beautiful, a gorgeous, clear amber. I dipped a taste out and just about jumped out of my skin! It was incredible! Better than any ginger ale or cider I've ever tasted. Fresh, cold, and just a wee bit fizzy, but not really like carbonation. I poured off the clear liquid leaving a bit of the floaty stuff in the bottom behind. Made sure I got every last drop though.

If you are wanting to experiment with some fermented products I would highly recommend this one as a great one to start with. I could give the recipe and everything but The Healthy Home Economist does such a wonderful job in her short video of how to make it that I'll just reference that here for those interested.

Keep in mind that you MUST have REAL raw milk whey for this. There is a video for that as well. It's a commitment but if you're into fermentation you must try this drink!
