score of the day...

Hunter scored a major find today while playing in the creek. But first, a couple photos from our walk today.

As far as I can tell Isaiah ate this whole apple, core and all. At least when I asked him how his apple was he showed me the last little bite and there was no core in sight.

Beautiful Jordy with her little bear friend wrapped in her hat as a tiny sleeping bag.

Hunter is loving riding his bike. He actually just learned how to be comfortable with his brakes so he could ride down the hill.

But, on to his find. We had walked into the woods to see the creek down the road and Hunter had boots on so he wandered up the creek quite a ways. He came running back with something he found. He was very excited. Apparently the flood had dislodged an old stump which had an axe buried in it. It was rotten and Hunter had been able to pull it out. It was pretty old, you could tell. We brought it home and did some research. It is a Cayuga Indian Head axe made between 1928 and 1952. We know this because of the makers name; Barker, Rose & Kimball, Inc. in Elmira, N.Y., which was the name of the company during this time frame. It has a circular logo with Cayuga across the top, the Indian head which is faint but visible, and Barker, Rose & Kimball Inc. Elmira, NY around the lower part of the circle. A very cool find! He can't wait to show it to his Dad.

  1. Cool ax head! Dawson insists that the apple core and seeds are the best part :-)
