"Tasty", "Yummy", and "Delectable"

Such are the various names of our Freedom Rangers. Our meat chicks arrived on July 12th, 26 of them, all hale and hearty.

That was two and a half weeks ago and we haven't lost a single one. They are growing like weeds and are bright eyed and active.

We finally decided to move them out into their larger abode today. They were getting very crowded and antsy in their box. They lose the heat lamp a bit early but it is so hot and oppressive these days we decided it would not cause them any harm.

Once our eldest has time to help we will be expanding the outside area to enclose a large rotating paddock for them to feed in.

I am very impressed with these birds so far. They are putting on weight like crazy, but so far seem strong of limb and very healthy.

If this experiment goes well we will up to 50 birds next season. These should be due for the freezer around November sometime.

This gal at right has been in the new coop five minutes and has already figured out the roosting bars. She is also probably the one who has jumped out of the 2 plus foot tall box several times!

Anyway, they are doing very well at this stage.
